So maybe you remembered to set your clock for a little after 10:30 last night so you could step outside to catch the first and one of two Lunar Elipses to happen in 2022.

Happy I did, because true to form, I dozed off in the hammock for a bit and might well have missed the show if not for modern technology. It was well worth getting up for, a reward of sorts for the times I’ve gotten out of bed in the wee hours of the night/morning to view one celestial event or another only to be met with cloudy, overcast skies.

The Blood Moon Eclipse as seen from a sidewalk in my New Port Richey neighborhood didn’t disappoint. Like the Grand Canyon, the Great Smoky Mountain, the giant Sequoias, and other natural treasures, the true wonder of it cannot be captured in a photograph. I gave it a shot anyway.

No doubt about it, it’s best to see in real-time. So go ahead mark your calendar or set the reminder on your cell phone for the next Lunar Eclipse – Nov. 7-8, 2022.

In the meantime, if you want to expand your knowledge be sure to check out the Pasco Astronomers Club, a local group that sets up telescopes for Stargazing Nights that are free to the public at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park in New Port Richey. Check out the Facebook page here.
