Celebrate Writers Week with the New Port Richey Public Library

The New Port Richey Public Library is excited to present Writers Week, a weeklong celebration of writing, creativity, and publishing from March 16th through March 22nd.

This series of events will provide aspiring authors and book lovers with opportunities to enhance their craft, learn from industry professionals, and engage with the local literary community. The week will conclude with our Local Author Showcase, highlighting talented writers from New Port Richey and beyond.

Library Writing Retreat, Tuesday, March 18 | 11 AM – 2 PM
Need a quiet space to write? As part of Writers Week, we’re inviting authors to our Library
Writing Retreat—a dedicated space to focus on your work in progress and build your word
count. Coffee provided.


Manuscript Magic: How to Write a Book in 7 Simple Steps, Thursday, March 20 | 10 AM – 12 PM
Heather Desrocher, head editor at O’Leary Publishing, will present a step-by-step guide to
creating a clear and compelling book outline. This hands-on workshop will provide practical
tools to help writers bring their manuscripts to life. Participants will receive a copy of
Manuscript Magic. Registration closes Sunday, March 16th.


Who Me, An Author?: How to Get Your Book Published, Thursday, March 20 | 2 PM – 4 PM
April O’Leary, founder of O’Leary Publishing, will outline four distinct paths to publishing
success and help attendees navigate the industry with confidence. This presentation will cover
common pitfalls, publishing options, and actionable next steps. Both in-person and virtual
attendance options are available. Registration is required for virtual participants.


Local Author Showcase, Saturday, March 22 | 10 AM – 1 PM
The final chapter of Writers Week features a grand finale — our Local Author Showcase! Visit
with local authors and illustrators to browse their published works and learn about the inspiration
behind their creativity. Enjoy readings, conversations, book sales, giveaways, and more.
This event will feature authors from the New Port Richey Writers Group, as well as New Port
Richey mainstays like Kelly Hackman, Kate Sweeney, and Ty Davis-Turcotte.
