Are you one of those who like to plan ahead? Maybe you have folks coming into town for a visit, and you’re looking to fill their social calendar with some local fare?

Take a gander at this hodgepodge of local offerings happening through mid-March. It’s a sneak peek at some of what’s to come in the next slate of local calendars to publish on the first of next month.

Cindy’s Pets Strawberry Festival, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Sunday, March 1, in Sims Park in Downtown New Port Richey

This is a major fundraiser for the local non-profit that provides clients on the Meels & Wheels and others in need with food and other needs for their pets.

The event features strawberry shortcake, strawberry flats, entertainment including the traditional dog show, and features a park full of area vendors (including What’s What New Port Richey!), rescue organizations, and more.

MUSIC IN THE PARK | Riverside Concert Series featuring Kelsea Martinez, 6 – 7 p.m. Friday, March 6 in Sims Park in downtown New Port Richey | Free

Kelsea Martinez is an emerging independent artist whose music blends Indie, hip-hop, and R&B into a sound that is uniquely her own. After turning to music during a challenging period of illness, she now aims to be the source of encouragement she once needed, using her songs to inspire others.

This performance will take place in the southwest corner of Sims Park, near the Grassin Bridge. Please feel free to bring your own camp chair or blanket for seating.

Get Your Tickets to theatrical performances at Richey Suncoast for FREE with Your Library Card!!!

Check out the New Port Richey Library’s Theatre Pass Program, where you can use your library card as your ticket to the theatre! As part of the Theatre Pass Program with the Richey Suncoast Theatre, your library card will get you two tickets to a theatre show. To register, fill out the registration form for your desired showing. Please print out your email confirmation and bring it to the box office at the Richey Suncoast Theatre.  Seating is assigned by the Richey Suncoast Theatre. Pasco Audubon Morning Nature Walk, 8 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park in New Port Richey | Free

Meet at the Education Center at 8 a.m. for a 1 to 3-mile walk.

Pasco County Parks & Rec Outdoor Adventures | Teach a Kid to Fish Day, 8 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14, in New Port Richey | Ages 5-16 | Preregistration is required and closes March 12

This fun-filled event is designed to introduce families to the vast outdoors, the sport of fishing, and the importance of being stewards of Florida’s freshwater ecosystems.

Hands-on educational activities will include fishing basics, learning stations, and hands-on fishing practice.

Please note this is not a Pasco County Park. There will be signage to assist with where to go.

New Port Richey Main Street Art on Main Chalk & Artisan Festival, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, March 7, in downtown New Port Richey

Chalk artists, street performers, face painters, a caricaturist, vendors, and a kids zone. Visit local retail stores, eateries, and drinking establishments. Purchase People’s Choice Award coins and vote for your favorite artist (s) while supporting future Main Street events

Friends of the Library Book Swap, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at the Regency Park Library in New Port Richey

In its early years, New Port Richey was slated to become the “Hollywood of the East,” attracting filmmakers and performers from all over. In honor of that unique heritage, we are proud to announce the return of the New Port Richey Film Festival. Join us for an afternoon of creativity on the big screen as we celebrate local talent! We will showcase a diverse selection of short films created by filmmakers from across our community. The festival features entries in both Youth and Adult categories, highlighting emerging creators alongside experienced storytellers.
