What’s What New Port Richey
Some days you just need to get out. Commune with nature for a bit and maybe wash off the staleness of the day under a canopy of oaks that offers a shaded hike through Crews Lake Wilderness Park in Spring Hill.
We caught sight of the tail end of coral snake and a family of Sand Hill Cranes during our morning hike through the 113 acre park. Bikers, campers and a few fishers, too, casting rods on the shore or off the wooden pier that stretches over the lily pads at Crews Lake.
We heard the calls of birds echoing a conversation or sorts through the trees while trekking over leaf strewn paths. Dodged hanging caterpillars as we crossed over the train tracks for the Central Pasco & Gulf Railroad that offers rides the second Saturday of each month.
There’s plenty to take in, for sure, but it’s the might oaks, some gnarled or hollowed out, that caught the camera’s eye.
Take a gander for inspiration. Then go ahead and maybe pull on a pair of sensible shoes, grab a bottle of water, lather up with sunscreen and head on out there.
