This special art project features historically significant miniature bronze sculptures mounted throughout the downtown area.

New Port Richey, FLA – Several historic buildings in downtown New Port Richey have been selected for a public art project to commemorate New Port Richey’s 100th anniversary.

Called “Tides of Time – A Visual Art Experience,” this project includes mounting small (approximately 8” x 10” bronze sculptures on historically significant buildings in the downtown area. Each sculpture will represent the historical relevance of that building.

The project is being organized by the New Port Richey Main Street, Inc.

“Our goal with this public art project is to encourage both local residents and visitors to learn more about the rich history of downtown New Port Richey, and to give them reasons to extend their visit while they are here,” said Tina Gordon, Program Director of the New Port Richey Main Street. “Not only will we be promoting the project throughout the Tampa Bay area, but also worldwide on various travel websites, such as Atlas Obscura.”

In addition to the sculptures, each location will have a QR code that will take visitors to a website where a video will explain the history of the building, introduce the artist, give an explanation of the sculpture, sponsorship highlights, and other information. A walking tour map with all sites will also be available through the QR code.

New Port Richey Main Street is seeking investors to support the Tides of Time project. Community members have the opportunity to invest in a specific sculpture on a first-come first served basis. The investors will be recognized on the NPR Main Street website as well as on the walking tour brochure, which will be available at numerous sites throughout the city.

New Port Richey Main Street, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to assist the city with Historic Design Preservation and Economic Vitality Development.
