PASCO COUNTY, FL  —-  Ready to uncover the stories that shaped Pasco County? Join Pasco’s Planning, Development & Economic Growth Department for a FREE, engaging presentation to celebrate National Historic Preservation Month! You’ll explore local history, connect with unique cultural perspectives and hear from two dynamic guest speakers.

WHAT:        Historic Preservation Workshop: Discover Pasco’s Past

WHEN:        Thursday, May 28, 2026 | 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

WHERE:     Starkey Ranch Theatre Library Cultural Center

Local historian and author Louis Charity brings Aripeka’s early days to life, sharing stories from his research into the fishing villages and coastal communities that shape Pasco County today. He also has books on hand if you want to dive deeper into the area’s past.

Then Dr. Charles Zidar, director and board president of the Museum of Archaeology, Paleontology and Science, Inc. (MAPS), takes you behind the scenes of Central American archaeological expeditions. He shares fascinating discoveries, displays select artifacts and talks about MAPS’ ongoing search for a new museum home.
