The Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) Bobcats Baseball Team, currently ranked #1 in the nation, has advanced to the 2025 NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series Championship Game in Enid, Oklahoma, after winning 11-1 against Iowa Central Community College in the semi-final game on Thursday.

With a remarkable 51-10 overall record, sweeping the Sun-Lakes Conference, winning the FCSAA Division 2 Region 8 State Tournament, and capturing the NJCAA D2 South Division Championship, the Bobcats have demonstrated excellence and determination throughout the season, and are now in the World Series Championship Game. The championship game is scheduled for Saturday, May 31st at 8 p.m. (EDT).

All-American Michael Savarese (Hernando HS) will start on the mound for PHSC. Savarese boasts a 14-0 record with a 1.22 ERA across 103.1 innings pitched. On offense, the Bobcats are powered by Clay Thompson (Jesuit HS) and Bradon Durfee (Land O’ Lakes HS), who have combined to score 157 runs and steal 105 bases this season.

PHSC’s recently named athletic director and head baseball coach, Lyndon Coleman, has been named Coach of the Year for the fourth consecutive season in the Sun-Lakes Conference.

“I am excited for our student athletes to showcase their skills on the national level,” said Coleman. “They have spent many hours practicing and working towards the goal of winning a national championship. Regardless of what happens, this will be a life-changing event that they will be able to tell their grandchildren about.”
