The City Celebrates its Centennial in October and the calendar is filling up with different ways to get the party going. Check out the events below that are already scheduled with more, I’m sure to come.
Celebrate a Century Library Card Design Contest, through July 31 at the New Port Richey Public Library
Artists of all ages are invited to participate in this centennial themed library card contest! There will be two categories for submissions: 12 & under and 13+. The deadline for entry is Wednesday. July 31.The winning designs will be reproduced as special limited edition library cards.
New Port Richey Film Festival, 4 p.m. Saturday, August 3 at the Richey Suncoast Theatre in downtown New Port Richey
This inaugural Film Festival held in honor of the city’s upcoming Centennial Celebration will feature a diverse array of submissions from local filmmakers, with categories for youth, teens, and adults. Attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a wide range of films, highlighting the creative talents within our community.
In addition to contemporary works, the program will also shine a spotlight on classic films by
legendary actors Thomas Meighan and Ed Wynn. A historical presentation will delve into New
Port Richey’s motion picture past, offering a fascinating glimpse into the city’s storied
connection to the film industry.

Centennial Scavenger Hunt, through October 27 in downtown New Port Richey
Do a little exploring on your own and learn more about the City of New Port Richey through this historical Scavenger Hunt. Maybe stop along the way to shop, and enjoy a cool beverage or a meal or a special ice cream treat

Historical Walking Tours, monthly starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 17 at the West Pasco Historical Society in Sims Park in downtown New Port Richey | Free

New Port Richey Centennial Masquerade Ball, 6-10 p.m. Friday, October 25 at Spartan Manor in New Port Richey | Tickets are SOLD OUT | Sponsorships Available
The Masquerade Ball and Follies promises to be an event filled with entertainment, dancing, musical acts, auctions, showgirls, delicious food, champagne, and more. Local entertainer John Timpanelli will be the Master of Ceremonies for the evening. Wear your mask and a decade-related costume or come in cocktail/evening wear. .

Riverside Concert: Johnny Cash Tribute by Sandy Back Porch, 6-7 p.m. Saturday, October 26 in Sims Park in downtown New Port Richey
Johnny Cash had a personal connection to New Port Richey, spending time at a home inherited by his in-laws on the Cotee River.
