Richey Suncoast Theatre Celebrates 100 Years With the showing of the silent movie “The New Klondike” at 1926 Ticket Prices

The historic theatre on Grand Boulevard has gone through some phases since then, becoming a community theatre in the 1970’s and more recently opening the doors and the stage to a plethora of events, which these days means the theatre is up and running almost every night.

There’s rock concerts and comedy. Summer camps and community events that celebrate PRIDE, MLK Day, Juneteenth, and more.

On July 1, 2026, the theatre returns to its roots with the screening of The New Klondike – the first movie ever shown there starring the silent screen star, Thomas Meighan, whose presence and promotion led to the thought that New Port Richey would become the Hollywood of the East.

That never came to bear, but the theatre has survived and is thriving under recent stewardship. That’s something to celebrate indeed, and those who come out on July 1 are welcome to don a 1920s costume, pay the 1920s 25-cent ticket price, and enjoy some nibbles from local restaurants.
