The holiday season is upon us as evidenced by store displays and the drumming of carols overhead. Event-wise there’s plenty of holiday fare on the December agenda – from tree lighting ceremonies, holiday concerts, drive-thru-light displays and the opportunity to support and take in a bevy of local talent with productions of A Christmas Carol and The Nutcracker at the Richey Suncoast Theatre.

West Pasco Art Guild & Gallery “Picture This” Art Exhibit, through December 20 at the gallery in downtown NPR
The gallery is open to the public Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Tuesday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

“That’s Vaudeville,” Sunday, December 1 at the Richey Suncoast Theatre in downtown NPR | $21.25 and up
This family friendly show brings the light type of variety entertainment featuring individual, unrelated acts popular in the United States from the mid 1890’s to until the early 1930’s. This type of entertainment had a resurgence on TV during the 1950’s and 1960’s with show s like The Ed Sullivan Show and the Hollywood Palace.
Light Up The Angelus, December 1-22 at The Angelus in Hudson | $20 per carload
The evening light show will be held evenings except for Mondays. Visit with Sand and Mrs Clause and The Grinch and do some holiday shopping.
Light Up The Night Annual Tree Lighting Event, 6-9 p.m. Friday, December 6 at Sims Park in New Port Richey
Kick off the season with the official tree lighting at 6 p.m. followed by an evening filled with festive fun for the whole family. Event Highlights:

The Nutcracker, December 6-8 at the Richey Suncoast Theatre in downtown NPR | $20 for Adults | $10 for kids | $100 VIP
The Nutcracker is a holiday classic that captures the imagination and hearts of audiences with its enchanting story and mesmerizing performances. Here is your chance to experience the Nutcracker, live on stage. Choreographed and directed by Melissa Smith, Richey Suncoast Theatre’s production of The Nutcracker will be performed by local dancers and will be a treat for the senses.

Richey Community Orchestra Cool Yule Holiday Dinner Concert, Sunday, December 8 with special guest Chloe Waara at the Spartan Manor in New Port Richey| $50
Rising star Chloe Waara and her electric violin will join the RCO in several popular hits by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra, including Christmas Eve/ Sarajevo and Wizards in Winter. A Christmas Carol is a magical and heartwarming play that brings Charles Dickens’ classic tale to life with a burst of festive cheer! The story follows the grumpy and miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, who thinks Christmas is just a “humbug.” But on one fateful Christmas Eve, he’s visited by the ghost of his former business partner and three enchanting spirits: the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future.
These spectral visitors take Scrooge on a whirlwind journey through time, showing him the joys he’s missed, the happiness he could bring, and the grim future that awaits if he doesn’t change his ways. Church Street Christmas, 7-9 p.m. December 21 – 23 in Dade City | Free
Enjoy a stroll along the street and celebrate the sights and sounds of the Christmas season. This annual tradition is a FREE event and is a gift from the residents and churches located on Church Avenue.
While being closed to vehicles each evening, the street becomes a pedestrian walkway lined with candle luminaries. Listen to musicians performing Christmas favorites on front porches, lawns, and inside local churches.
The Broken Hearts Tom Petty Tribute, Friday, December 27 at the Richey Suncoast Theatre in downtown NPR | $25 and up
The Broken Hearts were created by former Tom Petty and Mudcrutch band mate; musician/songwriter/author/bassist Charlie Souza along with singer/songwriter Shawn Scheller (Save The Radio!) as a tribute to his passing in October of 2017. Originally only intended only as a temporary project, the group of musicians including keyboardist Robin Swenson (Air Supply, Frankie Valli & Four Seasons, Chuck Negron’s 3 Dog Night), guitarist Joe Sanders, drummer Scott Lockhart, Souza and Scheller became continuously requested to return to events in Tom’s honor.For tickets and info visit the RST Event Page.
