What’s What New Port Richey

In tough times a little culture can offer a healing balm to what ails you. And fortunately for us, after a couple of nasty hurricanes whipping up things as they swept by put more than a damper on things, the social scene is looking up for November.

Comedy kicks and caps the month off at the Richey Suncoast Theatre. The Richey Community Orchestra opens its 2024-2025 season with a concert at the Center for the Art at River Ridge. Takin in Wizard of Oz classic movie nights and support community theater and our area talent by picking up tickets to Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express.

And while several events for October have been postponed or canceled, there are still some left to take in on the agenda. Among them – multiple showings of Rocky Horror Picture Show at RST, an art exhibit at the West Pasco Art Guild and Gallery, free music performances at the library and in the park and local Halloween and Fall Fest events. They are also included in the Sneak Peek calendar. Check it all out below.

New Port Richey Centennial Celebration Classic Car Show, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, November 2 in the Thomas Meighan parking lot in downtown NPR | Free

Celebrate with us at a spectacular car show featuring pristine vehicles from the past century, spanning from the 1920-2024. Gates open at 9 a.m.


Johnny B – Killed – Comedy Special Taping, 5:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday, November 2 at the Richey Suncoast Theatre in downtown NPR | $12 and up

After nearly 25 years of performing on hundreds of stages across the country, hosting his self-titled FM talk radio show on 102.5 The Bone in Tampa, Johnny Bell is finally recording his first major Comedy Special at the historic Richey Suncoast Theater in New Port Richey.

Local legendary filmmaker Joe Davison will direct this special that will be shot like a movie. The audience will be part of this cinematic experience! Opening acts Stefano Capicotto & Catherine Maloney will set the tone. Then Johnny delivers an hour of stand-up that can be best described as a roller coaster ride, attacking life’s absurdities, mainly his own. Offensively likable, and completely unforgettable. Rated-M


Classic Movie Nights featuring The Wizard of Oz, Friday, November 8 and Saturday, November 9 at the Richey Suncoast Theatre in downtown NPR | $7.25 and up

come along with Dorothy as she takes a whirlwind trip to Oz to meet her friends, Scarecrow, Lion, and the Tin Man. Catch this classic again on the big screen. Shows are 7 p.m. Nov. 8 and 2 and 7 p.m. November 9. Doors and concessions open 45 minutes before each showtime.

Richey Community Orchestra & Chorus Concert, 3 p.m. Sunday, November 10 at the Center for the Arts at River Ridge in New Port Richey | $20

Come out and join the RCO for this tribute to some of America’s most popular bands and singers. You’ll hear music by The EaglesThe Beach Boys, Journey, and Simon and Garfunkel as well as mega hits by solo artists Billy Joel and Neil Diamond.

The Richey Community Chorus will join the RCO in this rockin’ celebration with a tribute to the music of Frankie Valli and the Jersey Boys, the band Chicago, and more memorable music of the last 60 years.

A special Veterans tribute will also be part of this celebration with the Armed Forces Salute and God Bless America. Don’t miss this spectacular show jam-packed with great music!

NPR Library Riverside Concert Series featuring Justin Theory, 6-7 p.m. Friday, November 15 in Sims Park in downtown NPR | Free

Enjoy a free concert featuring, Justin Theory, a four-piece, all-original Americana band with influences of jazz, blues, folk and swing. Using a slight twist to conventional jazz and blues, Justin Theory brings a fresh take inspired by old favorites. 

This performance will take place in the southwest corner of Sims Park, near the Grassin Bridge. Please feel free to bring your own camp chair or blanket for seating.



Murder on the Orient Express, November 15 – 17 and 22-24 at the Richey Suncoast Theatre in downtown NPR | $25

Murder on the Orient Express, written by Agatha Christie, is a classic detective novel set aboard the luxurious Orient Express train during its journey from Istanbul to Calais. Hercule Poirot, a renowned Belgian detective, is on the train when a man named Mr. Ratchett is murdered. The entire plot unfolds in a locked-room mystery—the train becomes stranded in a snowstorm, and Poirot is called upon to solve the case

Random Fandom: Beetlejuice, 5 p.m. Thursday, October 17 at the New Port Richey Library in downtown NPR

Grab your Handbook for the Recently Deceased and join us for a movie! Watch the cult classic Beetlejuice (1988, PG) while painting your own themed decor to match.

Everyone is welcome to watch the movie, but please register to participate in the craft as supplies are limited.


Rocky Horror Picture Show, October 18, 19 ( and 25 and 26) at the Richey Suncoast Theatre in downtown New Port Richey | $15 and up

From the promo – In this cult classic, sweethearts Brad (Barry Bostwick) and Janet (Susan Sarandon), stuck with a flat tire during a storm, discover the eerie mansion of Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry), a transvestite scientist. Cello Rocks! with Theresa Villani, 6 p.m. Friday, October 18 at the New Port Richey Library in downtown New Port Richey | Free

Villani will be playing in the genres of jazz, pop, blues, rock n’ roll, Broadway, and even the Grateful Dead. She has performed throughout North America, everywhere from Chicago to Mexico City, with grand orchestras as well as more intimate concerts at libraries across the state.

The all-new Richey Suncoast Rogues take the stage for the first time with a Halloween and Horror Themed Improv Comedy Show. Come on out for the laughs and celebrate the hard work that the troupe has put into learning all about improv over the last 2 months.


Florida Territory! Living History Event, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, October 26 at the Pioneer Florida Museum in Dade City | $12 for adults | $6 for students

NOTE – As of publication on October 16, the Pioneer Florida Museum was still closed and was scheduled to be closed at least until October 20 due to damage from Hurricane Milton. Check with the museum website before heading out.

  • Catch a 16th Century arms exhibition featuring: Armed combat between conquistadors and privateers, the Spanish Tercio in combined arms, a demonstration of matchlock muskets, and more.
  •  Experience Seminole artistry and culture presented by members of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, featuring: dugout canoes, bead and bandolier bag work, native flute, Seminole stickball and 20th Century Seminole culture.
  • Learn about the War of 1812 and how it affected Florida
  • Take in history from acclaimed authors, scholars, and lecturers including Dale Cox, Dr. Annette Fromm, and Patsy West.
  • Barehanded Alligator handling demonstrations at 11 am and 2 pm on Saturday.

Spooky Train and Scary Trails, 7 – 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays throughout October at the Grand Concourse Railroad in Spring Hill. | $8 – $20 | Children under 24 months are free | Senior & Veteran Discounts

Take a 10 to 15-minute ride aboard a 7.5″ scale railroad through the woods of our host property. We call it spooky, not scary, as it’s geared toward easily startled viewers. There is less to scare you, but plenty to see.

Rhymes to Readers Storybook Parade, 1 – 2 p.m. Thursday, October 31 at the New Port Richey Library

This week’s storytime is also one of the cutest days of the year: the annual Trick-or-Treat Parade!

Rhymes to Readers Storytime will begin at 1 pm with some fun Halloween stories, rhymes, and songs for little ones. Afterward, everyone will line up and begin trick-or-treating around City Hall to visit each City department. Costumes are encouraged, and don’t forget to bring something to hold your candy, too!
