Poetry Month: Take & Make, April 9 – 11 at the New Port Richey Public Library

Celebrate National Poetry Month by crafting your own blackout poetry using pages from discarded novels.
Blackout poetry is a creative way to repurpose old books and uncover hidden verses within the text. Stop by and create your own unique literary masterpiece! One per person, available while supplies last.
Gopher Tortoise SHELLabration, 5 – 7 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at the New Port Richey Library | Free

This program raises awareness about this important keystone species – the gopher tortoise. Celebrate National Gopher Tortoise Day with kids’ activities and a viewing of the documentary Gopher Games. Presented in partnership with the Florida Suncoast Sierra Club.
Eating Local Produce with local farmer, Tanner Kauffman, 5 – 6 p.m. Thursday, April 24 at the New Port Richey Public Library

Celebrate Earth Week with a special talk by Tanner Kauffman, owner of Theo’s Harvest.
Tanner will talk about the importance of growing, shopping for, and eating local produce.
At his urban bio-intensive farm in New Port Richey, Tanner cultivates soil-grown vegetables without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. Discover how supporting local farms like Theo’s Harvest can benefit both your health and the environment.
NPR Library Riverside Concert Series featuring The Garbage-Men, 6 – 7 p.m. Friday, April 25 in Sims Park in downtown New Port Richey | Free

Since 2010, The Garbage-Men, a band from Sarasota, Florida, has been sharing sustainability and creativity with the community by playing music on DIY recycled instruments. This performance will take place in the southwest corner of Sims Park, near the Grassin Bridge. Feel free to bring a chair for seating

- Beyond the Brush, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Thursday, April 10 at the New Port Richey Public Library. A new monthly art series where we get creative while painting — but no paintbrushes allowed! Each month we’ll use alternative tools and techniques to create our artwork. For elementary-aged students. Please register to reserve your space to ensure we have enough supplies for everyone. Pasco County Libraries System-Wide Virtual Classes
- English Conversation Group, 2 – 3:30 p.m. Tuesdays and 10 -11:30 a.m. Fridays. This is a fun, casual atmosphere to practice and improve your English. Speakers of all levels are welcome. We have a new topic for every meeting. The class will be hosted by Claudia from the South Holiday Library on Zoom. Intended for adults. - English for Beginners, 10 – 11 a.m. Saturdays. Basic topics such as greetings, simple conversations, and basic grammar. This is an adult class. The class is held on Zoom. Please email the South Holiday Library, sh@pascolibraries.org, to sign up. Registration required.
New Port Richey Library Language Offerings
Local libraries offer ongoing virtual and onsite language classes. Patrons are also welcome to learn on their own through language apps they can access for free through county and city library systems.
- English Next Level, 5:30-7 p.m. Tuesdays at the New Port Richey Public Library. Improve your English skills at the Library! Enjoy a supportive environment to practice conversation and build confidence in your language abilities. This class is designed for those who already know the basics of English and want to improve their grammar and communication skills. Please note that this class is led by volunteers and is not a certified ESOL / ESL course
- Guten Tag!, 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. most Fridays at the New Port Richey Library. Practice your German language skills in an informal and friendly group setting. This group is self-led; class will be led via conversation practice and not with an instructor.

Tasty Tuesdays Community Market

The weekly market is located in the courtyard of the New Port Richey Public Library at 5939 Main Street, New Port Richey. The market is open every Tuesday, rain or shine, from am to pm. Find locally sourced foods, sustainably grown produce, cottage-industry baked goods and foods, hand-made items, and more.
You never know what you’ll find: organic produce, plants, bread, honey, eggs, coffee, skincare, etc. Get to know your growers, ask questions, and learn from their experience
