Those who want to know more about the functioning of their local governments have some options right now. Both the City of New Port Richey and Pasco County are taking registrations for Citizens Academies. Check out the notices below which contain information and links on how to register.
City of New Port Richey’s 2024 Fall Citizens Academy

City of New Port Richey
The City of New Port Richey is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the 2024 Fall Citizens Academy. The nine-week program provides an in-depth look at how local government is organized as well as how services are funded and delivered.
Classes are held weekly on Wednesday nights from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at different locations throughout the city including City Hall, Public Works, the Library, Police Department, Fire Station, the Recreation & Aquatic Center and the Wastewater Treatment Facility.
The Citizens Academy is open to city residents ages 18 and up however non-residents may apply and be approved at the discretion of the City Manager. The application period for the 2024 Fall Citizens Academy is open now and runs until August 16, 2024. Classes begin on August 28, 2024. PASCO COUNTY, FL —- Time’s running out! Don’t miss your chance to dive into Pasco County and get a behind-the-scenes look at how our local government operates.
Applications are OPEN for the Pasco Citizens Academy – a program that’s both educational and entertaining, designed to give you the inside scoop on all the services Pasco County offers! The Pasco Citizens Academy begins August 7, 2024, and includes 11 sessions, with a graduation ceremony in October.

“This is truly a hands-on, interactive opportunity to learn how local government works and to share ideas about how to better serve our communities,” says Program Manager Tony Stillo. “You’ll be able to meet elected officials, spend time connecting with the people who work for the county, and get a real feel for what it’s like to make decisions that impact everyone who lives, works or visits Pasco County.”
