What’s What New Port Richey

There’s a lot to choose from this month starting with the wrapping up of Into the Woods at RST and finishing up with a couple of opportunities to see the Soul Cruisers tribute band here in town or just over the border if that show date works better for you.

A local production of Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” runs weekends January 24 – February 2 at the Richey Suncoast Theatre in downtown New Port Richey.

In between you can meet local author Craig Pittman (Cat Tail, Oh Florida!), attend the West Pasco Art Guild’s “Reflections” opening reception, and the Richey Community Orchestra’s “Kickin’ Brass concert.

Celebrate Back History Month with a movie at the New Port Richey Library, a talk on local black history at Peace Hall in Sims Park, or learning more about the culture at the the First Black Heritage Festival at Pasco County’s Wesley Chapel District Park.

Add to that an “All Male Revue”, a couple of comedy acts, concerts in the park, at the beach and by the river and a range of live music gigs at local establishments.

This month’s “Stepping Out” calendar includes the usual uber-local fare and sprinkled in are some live music-tribute band events sponsored by the the City of Tarpon Springs’ Tarpon Arts because we’re supporting the arts from here and a little further out.

Don’t forget to visit local establishments before or after the show for a meal or a drink. Maybe say “hello” to Tara Fielding, co-owner and barkeep at SteamWorks Pub in downtown New Port Richey where she and her employees will be happy to serve you up a drink and some bites from the kitchen, too.
