What’s What New Port Richey
March comes in with a few outdoor and very family-friendly events in downtown New Port Richey hosted by local non-profits that are working to uplift the community in different ways
On Saturday, March 1, New Port Richey Main Street hosts the second-annual Art on Main Chalk and Artisan Festival, an event that fulfills at least two tenets of the mission of the Florida Main Street program that New Port Richey is a part of.

One – to promote the downtown with events that make people want to go there. Once there they are likely to visit one of the local establishments – get an icecream or lunch, sit down for a flight at one of the local breweries or do some shopping.
Maybe they stop in at the Historical Center, catch an artist demonstration at one of the exhibits strategically placed just over the bridge at Coastal Creations where worthy shops are sometimes overlooked. Maybe when they see all that’s going on they make a note to come back again or more often. That gives a boost to the economic vitality of the community.
Also on Saturday, Pasco Parks and Rec hosts the annual “Teach Your Kid to Fish Day,” in Port Richey. Registration ends February 28 for that free event so be sure to get on it if you are interested.
On Sunday, March 2, Cindy’s Pets, a local non-profit that delivers free pet food to seniors on the Meals on Wheels program, hosts the annual Strawberry Festival in Sims Park.

This annual event in the biggest fundraiser for Cindy’s Pets, and features strawberry shortcakes and flats for sale, the traditional Fund Dog Show and some upwards of 40 vendors including non-profits that tend to the care of animals in our community.

Closing out the month and welcoming April is the what many consider New Port Richey’s premiere event, The Chasco Fiesta (March 28 – April 5). The multi-day event features the traditional Native American Fest, live music, parades, a coronation ball, a car show, and more.
These are just some of what will be happening in March with more to be added to the Stepping Out and Outdoor and Local Library Calendars which are published on or before the first of each month. They are also featured in the bi-weekly newsletter sent for free to subscribers who sign up. If you’re not on our subscriber list and would like to be, check how to do that below.
