Things start kicking up this month. Richey Suncoast Theatre opens the 2026 – 2027 season with the musical, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The City’s Free Concert in the Park series opens this month, as does the New Port Richey Library’s Riverside Concert Series – both held on different stages in Sims Park.
The 25th Anniversary of September 11 is commemorated with a solemn ceremony and concert in Sims Park. Port Richey hosts the 2nd annual Mayor’s Ball honoring veterans & first-responders and benefitting the Tunnels to Towers organization, which also is the benefactor of two Turnstiles – Billy Joel Tribute Concerts at Richey Suncoast on September 4.
The Cotee River Bike Fest organization hosts the annual Battle of the Bands competition on September 26. The Pasco Pride Festival follows last year’s successful stint by hosting the event in a variety of downtown locations on September 26.

West Pasco Historical Society presents “The History of Seven Springs,” 6 p.m. Wednesday, September 9 at Peace Hall in Sims Park in downtown New Port Richey | Free
Historian and author Paul Herman is the digital archivist for the West Pasco Historical Society, and writes a regular “Community Chronicles” column for the Suncoast News. Join him to learn all about the history of West Pasco County’s first settlement at Seven Springs in the 1840s, and discover the timeline of how the area has evolved to the present day.
The WPHS will have copies of Paul’s newly released book “History of Seven Springs” for sale (or you can pick it up now at the museum in Sims Park). Get your copy signed by the author.
