DADE CITY, FL  —-  Connecting resources with purpose – that’s how Pasco County is changing lives, one pantry visit at a time.  Pasco County and UF/IFAS Pasco County Cooperative Extension are proud to receive a 2025 National Association of Counties (NACo) Achievement Award, which honors innovative county programs making a difference in our communities.

Pasco earned national recognition for its One Stop Shop and Pantry Solutions program, which supports neighbors facing food insecurity.  More than a pantry, this effort offers educational programs tailored to each customer’s needs, empowering people with resources to move toward greater self-sufficiency.

“I am so proud of this program,” says Director Whitney Elmore.  “The pantry is our opening to further help those in these difficult situations become more self-sufficient.”

That support goes well beyond food.  Whether it’s guidance on managing finances, finding mental health resources, or navigating health challenges, this program connects people to what they need most.  One shining example is the “Grand Group,” created for senior citizens who are raising their grandchildren.  Thanks to our partnerships, they now have access to tools, education, and a supportive community.

NACo’s Achievement Awards program, launched in 1970, highlights exceptional county innovations nationwide.  Each submission is judged on its own merits, and awards are presented across 18 categories – from public safety and civic engagement to health and youth services.
