Celebrate and Honor the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.


MLK History Film Screening: MLK/FBI, 5 – 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 15 at the New Port Richey Library | Free

This documentary film features recently declassified files that unearthed how the FBI branded and targeted Martin Luther King Jr. as an enemy of the state. It sheds new light on Martin Luther King Jr. as he was beginning to rise to national fame and influence as a leader of the civil rights movement.

This film is rated PG and has a runtime of 1hr 44min. Closed captioning is available.


MLK Day of Service Volunteer Fair, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday, January 18 at the New Port Richey Public Library in downtown NPR

Local non-profits will showcase their mission in the community as a way to connect with potential volunteers and build awareness about available services.

Martin Luther King Day Jr Celebration & Symbolic March, 10 a.m. Monday, January 20 at the Booker T. Washington School in Port Richey

This annual event features a symbolic march down March from the Union Baptist Church to the historic Booker T. Washington School on Pine Hill Road in Port Richey followed by guest speakers and artistic performances.


Pasco County Closings for MLK Day Holiday

PASCO COUNTY, FL  —-  Pasco Board of County Commissioners (BCC) offices will be closed Monday, January 20, 2025, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Pasco County Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources’ Offices, Recreation Complexes and Community Centers will be closed; however, parks and beaches not closed due to storm damage will remain open to the public from dawn to dusk. 

Pasco County Public Transportation (GoPasco) will provide regular transportation services (fixed-route and paratransit); however, GoPasco administrative offices will be closed.

All Pasco County Libraries will be closed.

Pasco County Animal Services Administration Office, Adoption Center, Intake/Reclaim Shelter and Field Services will be closed.  An Animal Control Officer will be available for emergencies only.

The Pasco County Resource Recovery Facility, West Pasco Class III and the East Pasco Transfer Station will be closed to the public; however, they will be open to Pasco County licensed commercial haulers.

BCC government offices will reopen on Tuesday, January 21, 2025
