“It’s exciting to see changes coming to this area, and we’re thrilled public and private investors are working together to bring improvements to western Pasco County,” says Commissioner Kathryn Starkey.  “As our population grows, it’s important to make sure areas like this corridor keep up.”

Major projects coming to U.S. 19 include:

  • Holiday Square Property at Flora Avenue
    • A derelict shopping center is transforming into a modern, 355-apartment unit.
  • Universal Plaza Mall at Moog Road
    • Public/private partnership negotiations are underway to demolish blighted commercial structures and redevelop the property as a vertically integrated, mixed-use project.
  • AmSkills Redevelopment at Darlington Road
    • Advanced manufacturing and robotic skills center that will provide our local workforce access to a higher-paying career path with certifications.
  • Gulf View Square Mall at Embassy Boulevard
    • The empty Sears location will be transformed into apartment living and the remaining mall will be remarketed toward improved community retail options.

City of New Port Richey Hosts Day of Service Project

Media Release | June 7, 2023
City of New Port Richey

The City of New Port Richey’s Code Enforcement Division, in conjunction with the Police Department, took part in a community service outreach project on Saturday, June 3, 2023. The goal of the service project was to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining a safe, healthy community. Code Enforcement officers and Police officers performed maintenance at two city residents’ homes. Code Enforcement Supervisor Code Manager, Erik Jay stated, “Helping elderly, low-income homeowners that want to get their property out of violations is a high priority for Code Enforcement to accomplish.”  City Manager Debbie L. Manns stated, “This service project was the impetus needed in order to have the day of service program grow so that it will encompass more employees in various city departments.”

The officers, along with City Manager Manns and Police Chief Robert Kochen, spent the day painting two homes.  Police Chief Kochen stated, “It is important that we build strong relationships with the residents we serve.  The homeowners who had their homes painted were extremely appreciative and the officers who took part in the project were glad to give something back to the community.”

City Manager Manns concluded, “This was just the beginning.  We look forward to performing these days of service on a regular basis.”

If you are interested in helping in the next project or know of someone in need, please contact Code Enforcement Supervisor Erik Jay at (727) 841-4550 or via email at jaye@cityofnewportrichey.org.
