The City of New Port Richey Launches New Community Event Series Focused on Wellness, Music, and Family-Friendly Fun

NEW PORT RICHEY, FLA. (Tue., May 26, 2026) – This summer, downtown New Port Richey is turning up the energy with two exciting community event series designated to inspire movement, connection, and positive vibes for all ages. From daytime dance experiences to community line dancing, residents and visitors are invited to enjoy a summer filled with music, wellness, and fun in New Port Richey.

The City of New Port Richey is proud to present both the new Sunshine Sessions series at Cavalaire Square and Motion on the Square at Railroad Square. These events are free and open to the public.

Hosted on the second Sunday of each month from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Sunshine Sessions brings an uplifting daytime rave experience to Cavalaire Square on June 14, July 12, August 9, and September 13. Featuring curated house music and daytime rave vibes by Heather Effie, the event blends wellness culture, movement, and community connection into a vibrant outdoor experience. Guests can enjoy bubble machines, affirmation cards, giveaways, dancing, and wellness-inspired activities in a welcoming environment designed for all ages.

“Sunshine Sessions is about bringing people together through music in a way that feels open, welcoming, and a little unexpected,” said Courtney King-Merrill, Cultural Events Coordinator for the City of New Port Richey. “There’s something really special about Cavalaire Square, so bringing this kind of creative, community-driven experience there feels especially meaningful.”

In addition to Sunshine Sessions, residents can enjoy Motion on the Square, a free biweekly summer event series held every other Thursday in June and July at Railroad Square.

The series is taught by Coach Q of Million Dollar Divas Dance Company and features “Next Move Youth & Teen Sessions” at 6:00 p.m., which includes fun, high-energy movement experiences designed to build confidence through dance and music for youth and teens. Then at 7:00 p.m., “Line Dance on the Square” offers beginner-friendly line dancing and community movement for all ages.

Motion on the Square dates include June 4, June 18, July 16, and July 30. The series encourages residents to come together through music, movement, and shared experiences.

“Creating experiences that bring people into our downtown in meaningful ways is an important part of supporting a vibrant and economically active community,” said City Manager Debbie L. Manns. “Event series like this help activate our public spaces, support local businesses, and create opportunities for residents and visitors alike to explore and enjoy all that New Port Richey has to offer.”

Both event series are free to attend, with free parking available throughout downtown New Port Richey. Residents are encouraged to bring friends, family, and comfortable shoes as downtown New Port Richey transforms into a hub for music and movement all summer long.
