There’s more than a few hallowed happenings lined up in October for those of the spooktacular sort or folks who just want to celebrate the fall season. OTB | Sunset Beach Spooky Movie Night, 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday, October 3, at Sunset Beach in Tarpon Springs | Free

Grab your floats (or chairs) and enjoy a FREE movie night featuring a showing of Beetlejuice at Sunset Beach, 1800 Gulf Road in Tarpon Springs. Lawn games will be available to play beginning at 6 p.m. until dusk. Movie snacks will be available for purchase. **Pets and alcohol are prohibited.

Pasco County Parks & Rec Outdoor Adventures | Withlaspooky Night Hike, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Saturday, October 24 at Withlacoochee River Park in Dade City | $5

Take a guided hike through Withlacoochee River Park during the dusk hours. Participants will explore the unique world that comes to life as the sun goes down. We will listen to and look for nocturnal animals and get to know what special adaptations these creatures have to thrive in the dark. Come see the beauty of Withlacoochee during dusk and meet the ‘spooky’ creatures that call this place home! Registration required.

Rhymes to Readers Storytime Trick-or-Treat Parade, 11 a.m. Friday, October 30 at the New Port Richey Public Library in downtown New Port Richey

This special themed storytime is also one of the cutest days of the year: the annual Trick-or-Treat Parade! Rhymes to Readers Storytime will begin at 11 am with some fun Halloween stories, rhymes, and songs for little ones. Afterwards, everyone will line up and begin trick-or-treating around City Hall to visit each City department. Costumes are encouraged, and don’t forget to bring something to hold your candy, too!

Halloween Horror Picture Show, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Saturday, October 31 at Cinema Six Theatre in Port Richey

After three long years in the shadows, The Halloween Horror Picture Show has clawed its way back from the grave, ready to reclaim its throne as Florida’s original and most electrifying horror film festival. The resurrection culminates in a one-day cinematic nightmare on Halloween Day, hosted at the iconic Cinema 6 Theater in Port Richey, Florida. Fans can expect a packed house filled with passionate horror lovers hungry for fresh blood on screen, of course.

This year’s event promises far more than just films. Attendees will be immersed in a full horror experience, including:

Come out to Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park on Saturday, October 31st for a spooky-themed archery class! Ghosts and ghouls are out and about, and it’s YOUR job to hunt them down. Instructors will teach you how to take aim and fire, so whether you are a beginner or experienced archer, you are guaranteed to have a hauntingly good time. Downtown businesses & city departments dole out candy for the annual Trick or Treat Event. For one enchanted Main Street and Grand Boulevard belong to the goblins, ghouls, witches, princesses, superheroes, tiny dinosaurs, Addams Families, and whatever wonderfully strange creatures you can dream up. This old-fashioned community Halloween celebration is completely FREE and open to kids, grown-ups and anyone who still believes Halloween MUST involve costumes, candy, and a little make-believe.
